GINA SUDARIA, Vice Principal of Costano:
“On behalf of Costaño School, I want to extend our appreciation towards the Ravenswood Reads tutors who make the commitment to connect with our students and encourage learning. Tutors provide an invaluable resource, which our teachers utilize to help close the achievement gap, and which our students deserve.”
BONNIE BILLINGS, Principal, East Palo Alto Academy, Stanford New Schools, Menlo Park:
"The
Stanford Upward Bound program provides crucial community support for
our students. Through mentor/student interaction, our students are
encouraged and coached on how to build the self-confidence and
motivation to succeed in high school and to take the risk to apply for
and attend college."
An important Haas Center goal is to develop leaders who can help strengthen communities, in the local region and wherever there is a need. Therefore, we provide opportunities for students to connect their community service experiences to academic study so that they can grow into effective civic leaders. After graduation, our active alumni remain concerned with and actively engaged in finding solutions to the problems they have addressed—whether as career specialists, organizational leaders or volunteers.
We thank all community members who have participated in Haas Center programs. Please follow the links to find out how you can give and receive assistance from our enthusiastic students.
