- Director of Community Engaged Learning (DCEL) in Environmental Sustainability
The DCEL for environmental sustainability will lead efforts to strengthen and expand community engaged learning opportunities in environmental sustainability. This position works alongside four other DCELs, each with a distinct thematic focus (engineering, education, health, the arts). Collectively, this team supports faculty across campus in developing and supporting community engaged learning courses and capstone experiences. The DCEL for environmental sustainability builds and maintains relationships with external community organizations working to advance sustainability and environmental justice, and partners closely with a number of related campus units engaged in related efforts. The position also oversees a place-based initiative at the Haas Center, Partnerships for Climate Justice in the Bay Area (PCJ in the Bay), including supervising one full-time program associate. PCJ in the Bay works closely with community-based organizations and public agencies primarily in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties on collaborative projects that advance climate justice in our region.
