
Angela Filo
Angela Filo is the co-founder of Skyline Foundation, a family foundation that funds local, national and global organizations addressing problems at their roots and shifting systems toward a more equitable and just future. Skyline works in four program areas: climate solutions, just democracy, equity in education, and birth justice. The foundation seeks to create lasting partnerships with grantees that align with the principles of trust-based philanthropy and the time horizon needed to create and sustain change.
Angela has been involved with non profits, in both staff and board roles, since her undergraduate days spent volunteering and working at the Haas Center. At Stanford, Angela is a member of the Board of Trustees, chairs the Committee on Development, is a member of the Campaign Committee and serves on the advisory board of the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability. She previously served on the Stanford Graduate School of Education Advisory board, The Stanford Challenge K-12 Advisory Council, the Undergraduate Cabinet, the ResX Task Force, and the Stanford Alumni Association Board of Directors.
Earlier in her career, Angela taught high school journalism and photography, exhibited her photography projects and created public artworks. Angela serves on the advisory board of the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism and the board of directors of the investigative journalism nonprofit, ProPublica. She holds an undergraduate degree from Stanford University in human biology and a master’s degree in journalism from UC Berkeley.
