Erika was born and raised in Monterey, California. She graduated from Stanford University with her Bachelor of Arts in English with a Creative Writing emphasis in June 2019. During the latter three years of her undergraduate career at Stanford, Erika worked as an oral communications tutor at the Hume Center for Writing and Speaking, cultivating students’ presentation skills by leading workshops and engaging with students in one-on-one tutoring sessions. Erika’s favorite part of her time at Hume was encouraging students to have confidence in their capabilities and connecting them with the resources to do so.
Erika also spent a significant portion of her time at Stanford taking advantage of opportunities to study and serve abroad, studying in Florence in Spring 2017 and Oxford in Spring 2018, and interning at a children’s home called Naomi’s Village in Maai Mahiu, Kenya, during summer 2018. During her summer in Kenya, Erika had an opportunity to expand upon the visual design skills she'd already begun to cultivate as an editor for the Stanford 2016-17 Yearbook.
Communication and connection are the values that guide Erika. During her undergraduate career, those values took the form of serving on student leadership and outreach in her various extracurriculars. She is excited to continue serving students at the Haas Center!
