Talha Rao
Talha Rao is a senior double majoring in Biology and Design. Throughout his time at Stanford, he has taken part in a wide range of direct service initiatives. He was recruited to be the Leland Scholars Program’s first Student Lead, working to improve retention rates for first-generation students; serves on the board of Stanford Housing Equity Project, advancing housing justice for unhoused clients; won a Cardinal Quarter to establish support for immigrant and refugee communities; and is the community outreach manager for Pacific Free Clinic, providing high-quality, transitional medical care for uninsured patients in the Bay Area. Through the HAAS Center, he designs teaching efforts as the Community Engaged Learning Coordinator for MED 219: Intro to Housing Equity, Homeless Health, Harm Reduction, and Community-led Case Management. A recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Award and a Truman Finalist, Talha is deeply driven to support displaced communities. In the future, he plans to pursue a career as a physician to lead humanitarian efforts for people experiencing state-sponsored violence.
