Virginia joined the communications and development team in October 2013. She manages the Haas Center’s website, the Cardinal Service website, and the photo and video archives. She is also responsible for writing, editing, design, layout, and publication of newsletters, flyers, and other marketing and communication materials. She also partners with students on StanfordVotes and Democracy Day.
Prior to coming to the Haas Center, Virginia was the corporate communications manager for Addison Avenue, HP’s nationwide employee credit union. She has also worked in communications roles for HP headquarters in Palo Alto, an architecture firm in Los Altos, and a barrister and solicitor in New Zealand, and as a freelance writer and editor.
Virginia grew up in New Zealand where she originally trained to be a dancer and dance teacher, and she teaches occasionally at a nonprofit community dance studio in Palo Alto. She also moonlights as a dance reviewer for the Palo Alto Daily News and regardingarts.com.
Virginia holds bachelor’s degrees in English and education from Te Herenga Waka–Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand, and a master’s degree in English from Notre Dame de Namur University.
