Yi-Ching Ong
Yi-Ching joined the Haas Center as Executive Director in the summer of 2023. She previously served as Senior Associate Director of Experiential Learning and Service Focus Program Director at the Pace Center for Civic Engagement at Princeton University. In this role, Ong worked with a team to develop and offer internships, fellowships, and other programs to support students in engaging with societal issues and learning from community partners.
Before her time at the Pace Center, Yi-Ching served as an associate research scholar and lecturer in the Global Health Program at Princeton and as a Robert Wood Johnson Health and Society Scholar at Columbia University. She holds a PhD in microbiology and immunology from Stanford University, a Master of Philosophy degree in development studies from Oxford University, and an undergraduate degree in biochemical sciences from Harvard University.
Yi-Ching's educational philosophy focuses on challenging students to incorporate community needs and perspectives as they produce and apply knowledge. This aligns with the mission of the Haas Center to promote public service and community engagement among students in pursuit of a more just and sustainable world, as well as Stanford’s vision to prepare students for lives of active citizenship.
