Deyah El-Azhari
Deyah El-Azhari recently graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a degree in Political Science. For the past two years, she has worked for the CU Boulder Environmental Center as a Climate Justice Leader. In this capacity, she has collaborated with other employees of the Environmental Center to facilitate educational workshops for students on Climate Justice and promote them campus-wide. She has experience moderating panel discussions and has spoken at multiple social justice conferences. Her team designed a micro-credential program called the Climate Justice Leadership Alliance for students at CU Boulder. Deyah also occasionally worked for Ralphie's Green Stampede and CU’s Zero Waste Team. The RGS team works to sort, recycle and compost solid waste after large sporting events at the university, and the Zero Waste Team spreads the word of how to properly dispose of waste on and off campus. She was also a member on the Environmental Board where she worked on a divestment campaign and sat on the sustainable development committee. Deyah also loves environmental journalism and writing poetry. One of her fondest memories was when she recited her poem about trees at the UN Right Here, Right Now protests at CU Boulder alongside many inspiring activists. In her free time, she writes music and sings in a band.
