Executive Office Coordinator

Lauren Etchells

Lauren supports the Executive Office team and the Haas Center at large. Lauren came to the United States from the United Kingdom when she was six weeks old (sorry, no British accent) and has been a proud Bay Area resident ever since. Service learning was a key component of her Jesuit high school and college education, and Lauren is excited to support the Haas Center in connecting students to meaningful nonprofit and community partnerships. She previously worked in Stanford’s Office of Development on the Class Giving team and after a brief hiatus, her deep appreciation for education and mission-based work led her back to Stanford to pursue a career in higher education administration.

Lauren has a passion for the arts and education in both formal and informal learning environments. She earned a BA in Art History/Arts Management from the University of San Francisco, and an MA in Museum Studies from San Francisco State University. She wrote her master’s thesis on interpretation in modern and contemporary art museums, with a focus on how museum curators can design exhibitions to be accessible and engaging for a more diverse audience. Additionally, Lauren was an exhibitions fellow with Root Division in San Francisco and taught an art exhibitions practicum course for three years at her alma mater USF.

Outside of work, Lauren loves hiking with her dog, Joey; volunteering with the San Jose chapter of SURJ (Showing Up for Racial Justice); and landscape photography.
