Brandon is the Director of Community Engaged Learning in Environmental Sustainability. He earned his doctorate in learning sciences and technology design from the Stanford Graduate School of Education. His dissertation research focused on creating and assessing an educational intervention that integrated engineering and speculative fiction writing to engage high school students in imagining pathways toward just and sustainable climate futures. Prior to Stanford, Brandon taught in a humanitarian engineering program at UC San Diego in which student teams partnered with nonprofit organizations to co-create solutions to pressing social and environmental challenges. Before that he managed and performed the design of clean energy technologies, spacecraft, and theme-park rides at an engineering consulting firm. Brandon holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from UC San Diego and an S.M. in Aerospace Engineering from MIT. In his free time, Brandon enjoys playing guitar, pursuing outdoor activities (e.g., hiking, biking, kayaking, snowboarding), and reading.
