East Palo Alto Stanford Academy (EPASA)

East Palo Alto Stanford Academy (EPASA) is a service-learning program in which Stanford students engage as mentors and tutors to East Palo Alto middle school students.
Stanford students work with local middle school youth to provide tutoring during the school year, and/or work full-time with youth in EPASA's summer program.
Established in 1986, EPASA offers an exciting learning opportunities for sixth through eighth-grade students in the Ravenswood City School District. EPASA participants are highly motivated and represent differing academic abilities and socio-cultural backgrounds.
EPASA challenges participants to learn with an academically enriching program that complements and enhances the curriculum offered by the district. The program also works to ensure a successful transition from middle school to high school by empowering students with increased social awareness as well as the skills and strategies needed to effectively pursue educational opportunities in high school.
